Initiation Policies and Requirements

Upon invitation to join Pi Tau Sigma, candidates will be instructed to attend an informal information session and social typically held at a local restaurant. This event is not mandatory, but participation is encouraged.

After the informal social, the date for the formal induction ceremony will be set and provided to all candidates that express their interest in joining Pi Tau Sigma. The ceremony will include a test of candidates' mechanical engineering knowledge to ensure that all members meet the high academic standards of Pi Tau Sigma. Registration dues will be required at the ceremony in the form of a check for $45. Dress for the event is business casual.

Upon induction into Pi Tau Sigma, members will be required to fulfill a service requirement of no less than 4 hours. The service requirement may be met at any time during the semester the member was inducted through various service activities led by the society. Upon completion of the service requirement, all members will be provided with official certificates and membership cards.
